JK Rowling did three major things. First, she created the world of Harry Potter in which I will always be grateful. Second, she got kids reading and reading well! I remember little kids toting around "The Goblet of Fire" and looking like they were holding a dictionary. Last, but most importantly, Rowling opened a very special genre that led the way other books like the Spiderwick Chronicles, Percy and the Olympian and Erogon.

There are so many fantasy critters and they are all so fascinating. Many authors use these creatures in their books and many have stories of their own way before Mr. Spiderwick and Mr. Potter made them famous. I am in the process of compiling information from popular books as well as folklore about each of these creatures of fantasy. I will be sure to annotate where I have found the information in case anyone wants to study further. Enjoy!
